Driving In San Francisco, No More

We are at a tipping point of RoboTaxi, or very close at least. How people getting around cities will be changed forever in coming yers. And then, the city landscapes will be fundamentally reshaped for good. What a fantastic time to live in the dream 🤩

KEEP DRIVING 🦾

On May 9, 2024, Waymo reached a key RoboTaxi milestone: serving more than 50k paid trips weekly across Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin. This March, Waymo just gets the approval to drive on the freeway and expand across more bay area cities. Soon, everyone may “waymo around” Silicon Valley. Kudos to the team Waymo, what a great 10+ years endeavor 👏

Riding Is Believing

On May 25, 2024, we visited San Francisco. Instead of driving, we let Waymo One to take us around. We took 2 rides: one 2.4mi to China Town and the other one 2.3mi to Fisherman’s Wharf. Both got us to the place safely, and the wait times were about the same with Uber. They changed about $15 and no tip needed. Waymo One is way safer, quicker and cheaper than me driving & parking, according to my wife 😉. As long as there is Waymo One in the city, I’ll not drive anymore. Why not sign-up & give it a try next time when you are in town. Let me know what do you think then.

A Taiwanese lives in Silicon Valley since 2014 with my own random opinions to share. And, they are my own, not those of companies I work for.
